Butterhouse Collective
Butterhouse is an initiative of The Buttery Music School, established to support young people (ages 16–25) in building community and practical music industry experience. Based at our Hamilton studios, it is a dedicated space for those navigating the transition into adulthood to connect through creative projects, develop technical skills, and find a sense of belonging within the Brisbane music scene.
Current Projects
The program is currently in a pilot phase, with participants meeting fortnightly to collaborate on:
Zine Production: Researching, designing, and publishing a quarterly DIY magazine that documents our local creative community. Buttery zine vol 1 is being released in a few weeks. Watch our Instagram to stay updated!
Event Management: Planning and delivering open mic nights and aiding in larger-scale events like Jamfest and Butterfest.
Technical Mentorship: We are working towards providing hands-on experience in live sound, stage management, and artist liaison, supported by The Buttery’s mentors and guest industry professionals.
Experience & Pathways
Participants are encouraged to take on active roles in The Buttery’s annual events. This provides a platform to apply skills in real-world settings—from the Cave Inn to The Triffid—and helps build a portfolio of experience for future work in the arts.
