Buttery Community Fund
We are witnessing music change lives everyday at The Buttery, but not everyone gets the chance to access it. The Buttery Community Fund exists to break down those barriers.
What is it?
The fund is a pool of donations that goes directly towards:
Sponsoring music lessons for kids and families who can’t afford the cost of music education.
Funding free or low-cost workshops, band camps, and community events that bring people together, spark creativity, and build confidence.
Why it matters
We have seen countless legends come through the Buttery who have had a rough start to life, or haven’t been able to find their place in school or society. When they are given the tools, space and guidance to explore who they are through making music, even if it takes years of weekly sessions, they always end up finding a way to shine in music. This leads not only to their own self confidence and ability to express, but also it leads to society’s view of them changing when they are seen to excel in their own authentic way. The Buttery is where confidence is built, community is formed, and real musicians are made.
Your donation makes it possible for kids and families to join The Buttery, pick up an instrument, and step into a supportive, creative community when they otherwise wouldn’t get to.
How it works
100% of your donation will go straight into the fund, directly paying for the mentorship and resources required to run lessons or community events.
We often receive enquiries from people going through financial hardship trying to find some way to help their child access music. We sponsor around 3 to 5 of these people per term ourselves, but we aren’t able to cover the costs any more than that. These are often single parents or families from minority groups. We will also be reaching out to community organisations that cater to families coming from domestic violence such as Friends with Dignity, orgs catering to the queer and trans community such as Open Doors Youth Service, and First Nations orgs such as Digi Youth Arts.
We will also use the fund to create inclusive community music programs that are accessible to everyone.
How you can be involved
One-off donations: Every little bit helps.
Ongoing support: Set up a regular donation and become part of sustaining music access long-term.
Community partners: Businesses and organisations can get involved by sponsoring programs or events.
By donating to the Buttery Community Fund, you are changing someone’s life, and helping support the next wave of musicians in Brisbane’s music scene.
